
Dr. Carol R. Johnson, Superintendent of the Boston Public Schools, has been elected Chair of the Board for the Council of the Great City Schools, a coalition of 67 of the nation’s largest urban public school systems.
This blog provides information about news and events in the Boston Public Schools, the nation's first public school system, founded in 1647. BPS serves more than 56,000 pre-kindergarten through grade 12 students in 135 schools. In 2006, the Broad Foundation named BPS the best city school district in the U.S.
